addiction...

I realized today, i have a problem...an addiction i think...i am addicted to celebrity gossip magazines. I subscribe to US weekly (which i love!), and get that every two weeks, but apparently that is not enough! While at walmart today, i bought a Life&Style, which is worse than US, but still so tempting!

And it's not just magazines. I watch celebrity news on TV like Enews, AND i regularly check USmagazine.com and people.com a couple times a day! But i also do check up on cnn.com and msn.com =) That should balance out right? But i figure if this is the only bad addiction i have, than i'll be alright! Anyway, i am off to read the new Life&Style i just bought!

a teaspoon of this, a teaspoon of that...

If you read my blog last week, you will remember that i have been in a cooking mood. Well that hasn't went away. I've been looking up new recipes to try and i tried a quick one today that is pictured above. It is powdered sugar crisps, but with my own twist. It has powdered sugar but i also added a light vanilla/coconut frosting that i made. I made some with just powdered sugar and some with the frosting. They did not turn out too shabby, for being healthy =) 

Whenever i try new recipes, i always to try and make it a little bit healthier. Like i use non-fat sour cream instead of regular, or use my yogurt butter instead of regular butter. It makes me feel better about eating it!

 

I recently found out about farm chicks, and their book is pictured above. They are two women from the Spokane area who kind of remind me of Martha Stewart! They have a book with recipes, a blog, and a website. They don't just do cooking though, they also do crafts and they have an annual antique show. They describe themselves as farm girl meets fifth avenue. I am definitely no farm girl, but i enjoy their book and website/blog! They are having a book signing here in tri-cities next week, so i may have to go have my book signed! 

If anyone has any good/healthy recipes, i am always looking for new ones!

Super Saturday

We got a lot accomplished today, and the weather was beautiful! Sooo sunny! We were able to go to the dog park and of course Chase just loved playing with all his friends. There are pictures of him and us on the way to the dog park! I'm so excited that there are plans for a bigger dog park, keep your fingers crossed that it gets approved!

I also was wanting to try some new recipes i got from a blog i regularly follow. I included some pictures above so you can have a visual. The first one is of a fruit pizza, so delicious! I included a before and after picture of when i added the whipped cream on top. I think i was supposed to completely cover the fruit, but i like that you can see some of the fruit through the whipped cream. The last picture is of a meat cup. The picture doesn't make it look so good, but i promise, it is delicious as well! I had fun cooking, and of course my husband was the tast tester. If any of you want, i can include the recipe in a following post, just ask!

Oh where to begin...

I haven't updated in a week or two and it has been a busy few weeks! I had been picking up a lot of overtime at work since we are so busy so i spent most of my time there. The overtime money was good except for that it all went to the animals! Here's what went down the last few weeks:

Justin discovered that Jackson had a polyp/tumor on his anus (gross i know). So Jackson had surgery (and a dental since he was under anesthesia) last Friday to remove it. It went smoothly and they did a biopsy just in case but we haven't heard anything back on that. He was his same old self even the minute he got back from the vet and he is doing good so far.

Game nights! I love them =) Justin's brother Ben was back in town for spring break and so we had a family gathering for game night. Tons o' fun!

Yum, melting pot! Justin and i made a day trip to Spokane to help move Ben's things to storage. Actually Justin helped, i just watched. So while we were up there we decided to go to the Melting Pot for dinner and brought along Ben and Amy (picture of them above). They are my favorite couple, they are so darn cute!

And of course we stuffed ourselves silly with fondue. I didn't think i was a big fan of fondue until i tried the melting pot a few months ago, and apparently i am a fan!

And then there was Chase. Right before Jackson had his surgery and the day after we got back from Spokane, Chase got sick. He was vomiting and couldn't keep anything down. So we took him to Pet Emergency and they did tests and kept him overnight for fluids. they didn't find anything too obvious, but though it was something he got into while we were away. We picked him up the next day and he was not his usual self. He seemed in a lot of pain and not the chase we know and love. So we took him back that night and they did a few more tests. They found nothing wrong, and actually his tests came back even better than the day before. So they sent us home with pain meds. Well it took him a day or two but he is now back to normal. We never did figure out what was wrong with him, i guess everyone just assumed it was something he got into. So he is back in full force and his usual ADHD self =)

And lastly, myself. When is there something NOT wrong with me =) I started feeling like i had a scratchy throat last friday. I worked all weekend, and wore a mask since most of the time it just felt like my throat was scratchy. Yesterday however i just started feeling way worse, and it is just a cold but it hit hard! So i have been in bed all day long trying to sleep it off. But i had to get out of bed for a bit so i decided to update the blog. I already called out sick from work tonight and if i don't get any better, will probably have to do it again tomorrow. 

So i am off to bed again!

I just got done reading this book by Jodi Picoult. It is such a good book, i couldn't put it down! I love books by this author, she is a great writer. The book kind of reminds me of My Sister's Keeper, which is by the same author. Not sure how i feel about the ending, but overall it is a great read! Next, i am onto The Shack...

Simple pleasures

I have to write a quick blog about a new finding of mine. Justin actually heard good things about this duster and suggested we get it, and i LOVE it! Mine is a little bit different than the one pictured above. The duster part on mine is yellow, and the "feathers" actually go on both sides. I have used it on my blinds, lamps, bookshelves etc... I got really excited when i was dusting ( and i NEVER get excited about cleaning). Since it is a sunny day out, the sun is just shining through parts of the house. While i was cleaning, i noticed that the dust wasn't flying in the air, it was getting trapped on the duster! No, i am not getting paid to advertise this product, but figured if you hate cleaning like i do, you would also get excited about a product that makes cleaning a tad bit easier!

Wonderful wine tasting...

If you know me, you know i love love love wine tasting! It's so fun and you walk away with tasty wines purchased! Well i haven't been wine tasting in a while so i was super excited to go this past saturday with co-worker friends. It was Tiffany's birthday and her first time wine tasting! She loved it and found out she loved the sweet white wines (like me). I like blushes too, but prefer the whites. I'm told though that i will love reds with age =) Anyway, it was a windy day, but fun nonetheless. At the same time, we were on a mission. A while ago for my bridal shower, a friend of mine (and fellow wine enthusiast) gave me a blush wine called LuLu. And it is one of my favorite wines now! Well i figured since we will be wine tasting in the same area that LuLu is sold, we would go find it. Well let me tell you, it was not easy, and we still didn't find it! We finally tracked down the building but they were closed for the day =( Guess that just means we will have to go wine tasting again to try and find the mysterious LuLu!
