The happiest place on earth, plus a few more...

Well i have been back from California for a week or two, but am just getting to posting about it! I have sooo many pictures from our week there that it was so hard to narrow down the ones i wanted to post. For those who didn't know, we spent a week in Cali to celebrate our one year anniversary. We went to Disneyland/California adventure for three days, universal studios for one day, seaworld san diego and the san diego zoo for one day each. It was awesome! The pictures above is from the end of our trip ( i am starting backwards i guess). i L-O-V-E San Diego and can see myself living there. Justin loved it too, maybe we will retire there =) After we hit the zoo and seaworld we had time to visit Old town san diego. A co-worker of mine told me if i could only visit one thing at San Diego, it would be that. So i made sure to do that! It was awesome shopping...Justin didn't like it as much as i did, but he tolerated it =)

We also had time to to go to Hollywood and do the touristy things there. Did the walk of fame, saw Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood sign! If you know me, you know how much i love celebrity gossip, so i was in heaven! And on the lookout for celebrities. I saw Drew Barrymore, so that made my day!
Here i am on the red carpet...at Universal Studios! I loved Universal studios, definitely a must see.

And of course, Disneyland! It really is the happiest place on earth! I thought i wouldn't like it as much because i pictured it as more of a kiddie thing. But it was awesome and if i lived in the area, i think i would be an annual passholder!
All in all, it was a great trip, now i'm just thinking of where to go next year... =)

A sad sad day...

Yesterday was a sad day for me...Kris Allen was crowned this year's American Idol. This was actually the first year that i've EVER watched American Idol. I am a huge Adam Lambert fan, which is funny because i am so not a rock n roll girl. But he is so creative with music and i hope that he makes an album anyway...so since all my reality shows have ended for the season, what am i supposed to do?!! haha!

First Anniversary!

This past Monday was our one year anniversary, wow, has time flew by! We kept it simple since our big present to each other is our trip to California next week! Thankfully i had the night off so we went to PF Changs for a delicious dinner. It was sooo nice outside, a bit hot and windy but beautiful outside. Afterwards, we took Chase down to the river and took a walk and let Chase romp in the water for the first time this year. He is definitely a water dog, he loved it. I didn't love it so much since i' m afraid the current is just going to whisk him away! But he did fine. Happy one year Justin, i love you!

My special cat...

This picture makes me laugh because i don't know what my fat cat is doing! He looks posessed, but i promise he is not. Hopefully if you haven't laughed today, maybe this will make you =)

blast from the past...

Justin and i were invited to an 80's party on Saturday. After much twisting of arms, i FINALLY got Justin to agree to dress up! The funny thing is, half of my outfit i already had in my closet, and the other half i had to purchase. Justin of course is too cool for school and had no 80's clothes in the closet =)

And of course what is an Elise post without a mention of food?! I made this lemon coconut cake tonight and it was pretty good! You can't see, but the back of my cake collapsed a little, but it wasn't too bad.
I have the next couple days off, so i'm hoping to do some good cooking, but we will see how i feel =)

busy weekend

Justin was out of town this weekend for RC racing in wenatchee, so i was all alone this weekend. I thought i would be really bored, but this was actually a very busy weekend! Friday night i went and saw 17 Again which was surprisingly pretty funny. I love those movies where you don't have to think, just laugh! Than Saturday morning i went to the launch at my gym to do some great workouts. Saturday afternoon my friend Tiffany and I (pictured above) went and bought some hats to wear to a co-workers going away dinner. We had to wear a "funky" hat and we did not own any! The picture of us above is with hats we did NOT purchase for obvious reasons, but we did find some really cute kentucky derby style hats. The dinner was fun and delicious.

Sunday morning my friend Mauri and i did a three mile Cystic Fibrosis walk at Howard Amon Park. I came in third (even thought it was not a race) and we did it in less than 30 minutes.

And finally, yum! Sunday evening Mauri and i baked! You know me and baking lately. We baked german chocolate coconut bars (the first picture) and cookie surprise cupcakes. The surprise was  chocolate chip cookie in the middle, yum-0! They came out delicious and we made so many that i took most of my share to work. Hopefully my co-workers enjoyed them! I felt bad because Justin couldn't eat any of these treats b/c he is allergic to chocolate so i made him some peanut butter cookies, which he was content with =)
All in all, it was a great weekend, and i got my reading in too!

Heaven...

Look what i will be doing all weekend! I went to Barnes and Noble to get the third book of a series i am reading, and look what all i ended up buying! I was so excited about my new purchases i had to take a picture =) You are probably wondering what the books are that all have dead as the title. Justin's mom and my friend both recommended them to me. They are like the twilight books, but not as teeny-bopper. I like the twilight books better but these are pretty dang good too. I'm wondering if stephanie meyer got the idea for twilight from these books ; ) These were written before twilight and have sort of the same story line. Human girl falls in love with a vampire. They are good, and there are seven books in the series so they will keep me busy!
And you all know i am still on my cooking binge, so i bought some recipe magazines that i can't wait to try out. PLUS, i used my barnes and noble member card AND used a coupon, so that made my purchase even more exciting! I only went to buy one book, but figured since i am using all these savings, why not stock up?! Who doesn't love a bargain?!
